“I spoke to him probably 10 days ago and said, ‘You need to be comfortable, you need to be happy with whatever decision you make, I’ll support you, or the club will support you.

“I want you to stay here but you need to be confident in what you’re doing because it’s a big decision to leave the club and go somewhere else.

“You could see he was torn between in and I think he’s been torn between it since he agreed.”
