The NRL desperately needs a transfer window and former premiership-winning five-eight Matthew Johns agrees.

Speaking on Triple M’s Grill Team this morning, Johns says an announcement will be made before the end of 2015.

“I think you’ll see towards to end of the year an announcement for 2016 season which will be a transfer window,” said Johns.

“I think what they need to do is to say “there’s a transfer window [and] if anyone is found to have signed with another club before that [transfer] window [there should be a] $50,000 fine to the player [and] four points deducted for the team.”
